Lewallen, Oliff- Funeral services were held Monday, July 22, in California for Oliff Lewallen, 73, who died Thursday, July 18, 1985, at the Lemoore Naval Hospital. Rev. Joe Prettyman of the Porterville First Assembly of God was the officiant. Burial was in the Riverside National Cemetery in Orange County California. The son of the late Lewis and Ardilla York Lewallen of Oneida, he was preceded in death by his brother, Homer Lewallen of Chattanooga. A native of Oneida, Lewallen lived in Strathmore, Calif. for 31 years. He was a formerly a chief in the U. S. Navy and was also a member of the First Assembly of God in Porterville, the Lindsay Masonic Lodge, Veterans of Foreign Wars Chapter 2001, American Legion Post 20, and Fleet Reserve 43. After retiring, he grew olives in Strathmore. He is survived by his wife, Lanna Lewallen of Strathmore; two sons: Donald of Orange, Calif., and Dale of Parachute, Colo.; a sister, Ardilla
Jeffers of Oneida; two half-sisters: Allia Mae Lester of Roanoke, Va., and Dimple Litton of Maryville; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. The family is asking that contributions be made in his name to the American Cancer Society. (SCN Thurs. 8 AUG 1985, p. 12)
