William H. Rogers III, 84, Proctor Avenue, died early Wednesday at his home.
Mr. Rogers was employed by the Sealtest milk plant at North Bangor as a chemist and by other Northeastern U.S. milk companies for several years. In 1956, he moved to the Ogdensburg area, where he became manager of Ogdensburg Creamery. He then worked for Blue Seal Feed Co., starting in 1956 as a sales representative and retiring in 1984.
He enjoyed and was known for his rose gardens and his volunteer work. He also enjoyed playing golf, fishing and cooking on his grill. He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Ogdensburg and a past active member of Ogdensburg Rotary Club and Masonic Lodge.
Born Feb. 10, 1919, in Poughkeepsie, son of William H. Jr. and Ethel Holmes Rogers , he graduated from Poughkeepsie High School and earned a chemistry degree from Cornell University, Ithaca.
He married Grace M. Stuart on Feb. 1, 1941, at Russell with the Rev. Myron E. VanOrnum officiating.
He enlisted in the Navy, serving from 1944 to 1946 as a cook.
Surviving besides his wife are a son, a daughter and her husband, a brother, five grandchildren, four great- grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
A sister, Shirley Kamm, and a brother, Robert, died before him.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Sunday at the United Methodist Church with the Rev. Nora Jerzak officiating. Entombment will follow in Foxwood Memorial Park Mausoleum.
