Richard H . Rice, 77, of 1207 Washington St., died Wednesday afternoon at A. Barton Hepburn Hospital, where he had been a patient since Wednesday.
Surviving are his wife, Leona A.; two brothers, and several nephews and nieces.
A sister, Frances Rice, died before him.
Born in Northfield, Vt., on Aug. 12, 1913, a son of Guy and Fannie Celley Rice , he was a 1932 graduate of Ogdensburg Free Academy. He married Leona A. Lalonde on April 15, 1941, at Notre Dame Rectory, with the Rev. A. D. Charbonneau presiding.
Mr. Rice served with the Army Fourth Armored Division during World War II in the European Theater. Following his discharge, he was employed with the St. Lawrence Psychiatric Center and later with the Dannemora Correction Facility as a corrections officer, until his retirement in 1978.
He was a life member of the Elks Lodge and the American Legion.
