Anne Mielnik Rapin, 79, of 715 Knox St., died Saturday at her home.
Mrs. Rapin worked for 23 years as a bookkeeper and office manager at McConville Inc. She then went to work at the St. Lawrence Psychiatric Center, retiring in 1987 after 17 years as principal account clerk.
Born Feb. 3, 1927, in the township of Canton, daughter of Andrew and Rose Wojtowicz Mielnik, she graduated in 1944 from St. Mary's Academy and in 1945 from Ogdensburg Business School.
She married James L. Rapin on Nov. 6, 1948, at the Sacred Heart Chapel. Mr. Rapin died July 1, 1981.
Mrs. Rapin was a parishioner of St. Mary's Cathedral. She served as secretary on the Parish Council, as election inspector, and as city chairwoman for the Mothers' March of Dimes. She was also active in St. Mary's Auxiliary, City Guild, A. Barton Hepburn Hospital Auxiliary and Elks Club Auxiliary.
She was a member of Nimble Thimble Quilting Club and Borderline Quilt Guild and attended quilting shows in several states. She also enjoyed playing golf.
Surviving are a son and his wife, two daughters and their husbands, two sisters, four grandchildren; eight step-grandchildren, great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
A brother, Henry Mielnik, a half brother, John Sobon, and four half sisters, Sophia O'Brien, Mary Santimaw, Julia Maine and Ellen Bell, died before her.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary's Cathedral with the Rev. Terry R. LaValley officiating. Entombment will be in Foxwood Memorial Park. Calling hours will be from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at Frary Funeral Home. Donations may be made to the Richard E. Winter Cancer Treatment Center.
