Morley G. Pringle, 75, of 536 Hayward St., a native of Watertown and retired optician, died at 7 a.m. Thursday at A. Barton Hepburn Hospital, where he had been admitted Wednesday evening.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Fox Funeral Home with the Rev. Janice Fife, pastor of the Chipman Presbyterian Church, officiating. Burial will be in Foxwood Memorial Park.
Surviving are his wife, Natalie A.; a daughter, a grandson; a brother, a sister, and a niece.
He was born Aug. 30, 1917, in Watertown, a son of George A. and Ellen Davis Pringle . He graduated from Watertown High School in January 1936 and received his optician's license while employed at the American Optical Co., Watertown.
He married Natalie A. Giltz, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ross F. Giltz, on March 15, 1941, at Asbury Methodist Church, Watertown, with the Rev. Dr. George Harlan McClung officiating.
The couple lived in Watertown for many years before moving to Ogdensburg in 1957. They had lived at 536 Hayward St. since 1960.
Mr. Pringle owned and operated Pringle's Opticians in Ogdensburg from 1957 until his retirement in July of this year. He was a member and past president of the Ogdensburg Kiwanis Club and a member of the Ogdensburg Elks Lodge.
While in Watertown, Mr. Pringle played the trumpet in local dance bands and was a member and past president of the local Musicians' Union. He was also a member of Watertown Masonic Lodge 49 and the First Presbyterian Church.
He was an avid fisherman.
