Laura A. Price, 83, Riverview Towers, local artist, died Tuesday evening at A. Barton Hepburn Hospital.
A private memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in Foxwood Memorial Park.
Surviving are two sons, five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
A brother, Donald Atkinson, died previously.
She was born March 1, 1908, in Cleveland, Ohio, a daughter of Leonard C. and Annie Laura Hackett Atkinson . She was a graduate of the Vesper George Art School, Boston, Mass.
She married Dr. George L. Price May 10, 1930, at the First Baptist Church, Philadelphia, Pa.
Mrs. Price was advertising and display manager at the former Nathan Frank's and Sons Department Store in Ogdensburg from 1941 to 1959. During that time she won an award in a nationwide contest for best retail advertisements for 1946. She was also an instructor at Mater Dei College, Ogdensburg Free Academy and other New York State schools.
Mrs. Price received certificates of accomplishment under the tutelage of well-known artists Curtis Stocking, Charles Chapman and Ralph Barr. She innovated the style of art called "oil on foil," of which she had done several series. She also painted many murals in historic places around Ogdensburg and did a collage of the city itself.
Dr. Price was an osteopathic physician in Ogdensburg from 1931 until his retirement in 1976. A native of Bath, Maine, he died Nov. 2, 1978, at the age of 76.
Mrs. Price was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Ogdensburg.
