Madelene Irvin Rites August 28
Funeral services for Mrs. Robert L. (Madelene) Irvin, 49, lifetime Taylor County resident, were held August 28 at Shum-Novinger Funeral Home in Bedford, conducted by Carl Cummings. Mrs. Irvin died August 24 at the Clarinda Municipal Hospital. Interment was at Platteville Cemetery, Taylor County.
Madelene Fluke, daughter of M. [eredith] K. [ay] and Iowa [Julia] Russell Fluke, was born in Jackson Township, Taylor County, Iowa, April 27, 1919.
She attended Liberty school in Jackson Township and graduated from the Bedford High School with the class of 1936.
On February 5, 1941, she was united in marriage to Robert L. Irvin at the Methodist Parsonage in Maryville, Missouri. To them four daughters were born to bless their home and to share their love.
Preceding her in death were her mother, Iowa [Julia} Russell Fluke, and a stepmother, Norma Fluke.
Left to cherish memories of her good life are her husband, Robert; daughter, Kathryn Joyce of Bedford, Barbara Ann Alberts and her husband Mark of Des Moines, Iowa, Judith Carol and Patricia Diane of Des Moines, her father, M. [eredith] K. [ay] Fluke of Bedford, a brother, Elmer Fluke and his wife Georgia, of Blockton, a step-sister, Ruth Young, and her family of Sheridan, Mo.; nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was a member of the Methodist Church and the West Gay Club.
She loved and enjoyed her family and her home and her many friends and neighbors and she will be missed by all who knew her.
