Rosella Barringer, 87, of Pana, died Saturday, June 6, 2009, in Heritage Manor in Pana.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 10, 2009, in McCracken-Dean Funeral Home, Pana, with Pastor Steve B. Livengood officiating. Burial will be in Linwood Cemetery, Pana. Friends may call Tuesday from 5 to 7 p.m. in the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or Tower Hill United Methodist Church. She was born November 5, 1921, in Ohlman, IL., the daughter of Fred F. and Eddith Thompson Berns.
A homemaker, she had lived her entire life in the Pana/Tower Hill area. She was a member of Tower Hill United Methodist Church where she sang in the choir, and Women's Society of Christian Services. She enjoyed gardening, especially flowers, cooking, sewing and was a good seamstress and she loved music. In later years she became very involved in genealogy.
Rosella married Gilbert V. Barringer on February 18, 1941, in Pana.
She is survived by her daughters: Joyce Pennypacker and husband, Enos "Tom," Palm Bay, Florida; and Judy Vits and husband, Donald, Pana, Illinois; four grandchildren: Bradley Foor and wife, Diana; Clinton Foor and wife, Joni; Darren Vits and wife, Inez; and Dan Vits and wife, Shelly; eight great-grandchildren: Kimberly Foor, Crystal Foor, Kayla Foor, Olivia Foor, Alicia Foor, Anne Vits, Erin Vits and Drew Vits; sisters: Norma Wallendorff and Ruth Zucco, both of Alton, IL.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband on July 8, 2004; and son, Larry Eugene Barringer in 1952; brothers: Lewis Berns, Darrel Berns; sisters: Loretta Berns, Anna Barlow, Mary Hooper.
