Hovey, Mr. Jimmy

Funeral Services for Mr. Jimmy Carlton Hovey, age 65, of Dothan and formerly of Louisville, will be (were) held at 11 a.m. Monday June 8, 2009, at Kent Funeral Home Chapel in Clayton. The Rev. Bill Brown ill officiate (officiated) and burial will follow (followed) in the Louisville Cemetery with Kent Funeral Home of Clayton after a sudden illness.
Born Nov. 4, 1943, in Barbour County Jimmy was the son of Willie Lou Faircloth Hovey of Dothan and formerly of Louisville and the late F.D. Hovey. He was a member of the Louisville Assembly of God Church and had lived all his life in Louisville until he and his mother moved to Extendicare Health Center in Dothan five years ago. Extendicare quickly became his new home the staff and residents his family. He enjoyed Sunday school there and had previously been named the Valentine King. Jimmy was the champion domino player and had received many trophies and awards for his skill from tournaments held at Extendicare and also tournaments held at other nursing facilities.
Survivors other than his mother include two brothers, Ronnie Hovey, Headland, and Larry Hovey, Louisville; three sisters, Barbara Houston, Millbrook, Brenda Corbett, Salem and Connie Bedsole, Clayton; seven nieces and nephews, Kenneth Leon Houston, Montgomery, Kimberly Houston O'Connell, Prattville, John Keith Houston, Millbrook, Pamela Corbett Graham, Crawford, Hubert O'Neil Corbett, Salem, Jennifer Hovey Myers, Louisville, and Brian Ashley Hovey, Clayton; and eight great nieces and nephews.
Ask to serve as pallbearers are Haywood Helms, Junior McKnight, Mike Oakley, Wayne McGilvary, Billy Beasley and Tommy Knight. Honorary pallbearers are Andrew Boyd Faircloth and Dowling McLendon.
