Age 87, of Owosso, passed away Monday, May 18, 2009 at his residence.
Otto retired from General Motors in Flint as a Millwright in 1983 after thirty years.
Funeral Services will be held at 11 am, Thursday, May 21, 2009 at Nelson-House Funeral Home, with Deacon Mike Barrett officiating. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 6 to 8 pm and on Wednesday from 2 to 8 pm, with the family present from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm.
Otto was born on September 15, 1921 in Russell, Pennsylvania, the son of Frank and Thelma (Cooper) Bennett. He graduated from Warren High School in Warren, Pennsylvania.
On October 2, 1943 he married Mary A. Tejkl in Owosso. He loved being outdoors hunting, fishing, snowmobiling and boating. He enjoyed collecting coins, trains and airplanes.
Survivors include his wife of sixty-five years, Mary; daughter, Janice (Dave) Simpson; son, Jim (Jackie) Bennett; son-in-law, Jim Hayes; five grandchildren, April Hayes, Rod (Kim) Weekley, Christopher (Raquel) Weekley, Emilee Bennett and David Simpson; four great-grandchildren, Taylor, Lauren, Jamila, and Xabien; brother, Roger (Edna) Bennett; several nieces and nephews, and other loving family members; and special friends, Wilma (Richard) Bowen and family, and Kris (Jerry) Lostracco and family.
He was predeceased by his daughter, Kathleen Hayes on May 4, 1993; his parents; and sister, Blanche Siegel.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to Memorial Healthcare Hospice, American Kidney Foundation, or the Kathy Hayes Scholarship Fund.
