A. Don Peters, 66, of 910 Caroline St., retired employee of the Millbrook Bread Co., was pronounced dead on arrival Tuesday afternoon at A. Barton Hepburn Hospital, after being stricken while clearing snow. Mr. Peters had been in failing health since 1976.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the Fox Funeral Home. Burial will be in Foxwood Memorial Park.
Surviving are his wife, Barbara; four stepsons, two daughters, seven grandchildren; his mother, Mrs. Theodora Wade, Watertown; a stepbrother, a stepsister, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was born Sept. 4, 1925, in Watertown, a son of Alfred D. and Theodora Reed Peters . He was a graduate of Watertown High School and a Navy veteran of World War II, seeing duty in the Pacific theater.
Mr. Peters returned to Watertown after his military service. He was employed by the National Biscuit Co. and later by the Millbrook Bread Co. Mr. Peters came to Ogdensburg in 1970, where he helped to open the local Millbrook store. He retired from the company due to failing health in 1976, after 28 years of service.
He married Barbara Russell Wells in October 1972, in Heuvelton with Justice of the Peace Arlington Walker officiating. The couple had resided at 910 Caroline St. since their marriage.
His first marriage ended in divorce.
Mr. Peters was a life member of the Ogdensburg Veterans of Foreign Wars and a member of the Ogdensburg American Legion. He was also an avid golfer.
