October 11, 1928 - Storm Lake Pilot Tribune - John Beer, a resident of Storm Lake for 30 years, passed away Wednesday, October 3, at the hospital at the age of 61 years.

Mr. Beer had many friends in Storm Lake who sincerely mourn his passing. The first of the week he was taken to the hospital where he underwent a serious operation. His sister, Mrs. Hattie Hinen, of Los Angeles, and a niece were with him at the time of his death. Mr. Beer spent part of each year in Canada working in the harvest fields and the remainder of the time he spent at his home on north Erie street.

Funeral services were held Friday afternoon at the Fiscus Funeral Chapel. Mrs. Jean Caldwell and Miss Frances Witter sang. The body was laid to rest in the local cemetery. The bearers were George Mack, Gus Hagdahl, James Butler, Bert Stull, Archie Farnsworth, and Ed Marshall.

John Beer was born in Boone county, Mo. August 18, 1867, where he lived until he was 31 years old, he then moved to Storm Lake where he has since resided.

He leaves to mourn two brothers and three sisters: James, of Los Angeles; Bud, of Seattle, Wash.; Mrs. Al Digrisellse, of Detroit, Mich.; Mrs. John Stewart, of Fresno, Calif.; and Mrs. Hattie Hinen, of Los Angeles, and many Storm Lake friends.
