He was baptized in Otis Kansas July 22 1910.
I June Welsch have a copy of the paper his mother had to fill out when she brought the children to the Muscatine Iowa Orphan Home.
Uncle Chet did not know he had a middle name until then.

Chester (Chet) Van Horn, 96, of Muscatine, Iowa died Thursday, March 16, 2006 at the Wapello Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Funeral services will be Monday, March 20, 2006 at 1:00 p.m. at the Geo. M. Wittich-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services. Casketbearers will be John Briggs, Don Briggs, Bob Welsch, Brad Kisner, Jim Kisner, and Todd Kisner. Honorary Casketbearers will be Ralph Brewer, Junior Briggs and Bob Kisner. Burial will be in Muscatine Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation for Chester will be held on Monday, March 20, 2006 from 12:00 p.m. until service time. Memorials may be directed to the Moose Lodge #388 in memory of Chester.

Chester was born December 13, 1909 in Great Bend, Kansas the son of John and Katherine (Oetken) Van Horn. On December 29, 1945, Chester was united in marriage to Lucy Beulah Kisner in Muscatine, Iowa. Chester was employed at Carver Pump as an assembler for many years. He was a past member of the Izaak Walton League, the Machinist Union and up until his death he was the oldest living member of the Moose #388 Lodge. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, The Hawkeyes and The Chicago Cubs. Chester also enjoyed his friends stopping over to enjoy coffee and conversation each morning.

Chester will be deeply missed by several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, four brothers, George, Charles, Benny, and Johann, and two sisters, Marie Foster and Irene Brewer.
