Appointed to the Canadian Senate (1932-1941). Leader of the Conservative Party (1920-26, 1941-42). Solicitor General under Borden (1915-1917), he drafted the controversial World War I conscription law that split Parliament and forced Borden to form a Unionist (pro-conscription) coalition government for the duration of the war. Minister of the Interior (1917-1920). Served very short periods in power, defeated by Liberal leader Mackenzie King. You were not too successful as opponent to "Rex" King in the 1920s and 1940s, but you did serve with a sense of duty to your public trust. Rest in peace. -
