Anna Elizabeth Koppert was born in Dubuque County, Iowa, May 2, 1875. In 1894 she moved with her parents to western Iowa. On January 8, 1896, she married Anthony Deters at Chatsworth, Iowa, living there one year when they moved to South Dakota where they lived ever since.

To this union were born ten children, nine of whom are living, Agnes (Mrs. August Weinberg), Baldwin, Wisconsin; George of Olivet, South Dakota; Regina (Mrs. Herman Klunder), Bridgewater; Marie of Mitchell; Frances (Mrs. Earl Petree), Edward, Hildegarde and Joseph, all of Salem. Rose dying in infancy in 1916.

About September 1, 1923 she began to fail in health, undergoing an operation November 8, which proved to be of no help, her death being caused by cancer of the colon. After a long suffering she passed away February 6, 1929 at her brothers home in Farmer, South Dakota.

The funeral was held at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Salem, February 9, solemn requiem high mass celebrated by Rev. B. Weber, assisted by Rev. U. Rodenbur, Salem, and Rev. A. Milleman, Lesterville.

Interment was made in St. Martin's Cemetery at Emery, by Rev. G.B. Hoffman of that place. She leaves to mourn her death, her husband, nine children, nine grand-children, four brothers and four sisters..
