Uncle Dick died as a result of an industrial accident in Fels Naptha Company at the plant located at Island Ave and Woodland Ave in Philadelphia. He was a welder.
Veteran of WWII/Coast Guard (as listed on his stone).
**** I know very little about Uncle Dick - my family did not discuss his life and untimely death except to say it affected my grandmother terribly. There are many pictures but few of him. Only my mother (his sister-in-law) related a couple stories to me. One was that he kept his square dance appointments in a book (in code?) and no one could read it and contact people to let them know he had died. For months after he died, my grandmother would get calls to confirm upcoming appointments. He had done square dance calling since a teenager (found a news article on him when he was a teen).
Another story (my cousin found this out and my mother confirmed to me) is that his "birth name" was Henry Frank (Jr). Always went by Richard (Xavier) and had it legally changed.
