George E Church died Thursday of last week in Walla, Walla, at the age of 74. The next day the remains were brought to Dayton for interment. At 2 pm the following Saturday the funeral cortege left Bean and Cookerly's undertaking parlors for the cemetery, where after religious services in which Rev. John D Jones officiated, the corpse was buried in the presence of the sorrowing friends and relatives of the deceased.
Mr. Church was born in New York in 1831. When about 19 years old he removed to Illinois, where he married Miss Olive Burton in 1850. With his wife he emigrated to Montana in 1867, where he lived until 1876, when he removed to Dayton, Wash. Here his wife died in 1886. Some time ago he went to Walla Wall for treatment.
The deceased is survived by four children: Mrs. Geo. H. LaDue and Mrs. William Bandy, both of Walla Walla, John E. Church of Dayton, and Leonard Church of Pomeroy.
Mr. Church was a spirtiualist of the most pronounced type. Much of his life was devoted to the propagation of his belief. He was a enthusiastic worker in his cause, often going away on lecturing tours.
