A prayer service for Andrew J. O'Marah, 16, of 1029 Washington St., will be held at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at Fox-McLellan Funeral Home, followed by a 10 a.m. funeral Mass at Notre Dame Church with the Rev. F. James Shurtleff, pastor, officiating. Entombment will be in Foxwood Memorial Park.

Mr. O'Marah's body was recovered Tuesday from the Oswegatchie River. He had been reported missing in November. The death is under investigation by the Ogdensburg Police Department.

Mr. O'Marah was a freshman at Ogdensburg Free Academy. He excelled in math and had plans to become a math teacher. Last year, he had the highest score in the Ogdensburg School District on the eighth grade math assessment.

Born Dec. 31, 1984, in Ogdensburg, he was a son of John and Kathleen Norko O'Marah . He received his First Communion at Notre Dame Church.

His artwork was entered in the Lake Placid High Peaks Art Show and he was one of the volunteers who helped paint the Fort La Presentation mural in downtown Ogdensburg in the fall.

He enjoyed sports, collecting sports cards and listening to music. He ran winter track for a season and was active in the Kiwanis baseball program for several years. An avid fisherman, he enjoyed spending weekends camping in Heuvelton with his grandparents.

Surviving besides his parents of Ogdensburg are two brothers, his maternal grandmother, his paternal grandfather and stepgrandmother, his paternal grandmother, his paternal great-grandmother, his paternal great-grandfather, his maternal great-grandmothers, and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
