James E. O'Brien, 36, of Stone Church Road, Route 2, died at 5:10 p.m. Thursday evening at home. Mr. O'Brien had been in ill health with cancer since February 1989.
A funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at St. John's Church, Morristown, with the Rev. Harry Snow officiating. Burial will be in Foxwood Memorial Park.
He is survived by his wife, Laurie; a son, a daughter, his father, three sisters, a brother, and his mother-in-law.
Born in Ogdensburg April 2, 1954 , the son of Joseph and Margaret Gaines O'Brien , he attended Morristown Central School and married Laurie LaRock Feb. 6, 1975, in St. Mary's Cathedral with the Rev. George Maroun officiating.
Mr. O'Brien had worked at Ames Department Store, the former Diamond International paper plant, and as a carpenter for Bernie Bertrand Construction, Morristown. He was last employed by Cut-Rite Log Homes, Morristown, before his illness.
Mr. O'Brien enjoyed hunting and fishing and was a communicant of St. John's Church.
