Richard S. Neves, 72, Heuvelton-Pope Mills Road, was stricken at his home early Saturday and pronounced dead at 2:30 a.m. at A. Barton Hepburn Hospital, Ogdensburg. He had been in failing health for 2 1/2 years.
The funeral will be Sunday at Fox Funeral Home at the convenience of the family with the Rev. Paul Freeman, pastor of the United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Foxwood Memorial Park, Ogdensburg.
There will be no calling hours. Donations may be made to the Heart Fund or the Ronald McDonald House, Syracuse.
Surviving are his wife, Lillian ; a son, a daughter, and four grandchildren.
Born Dec. 29, 1922, in Somerville, Mass., a son of Amaro and Lucille Silver Neves , he graduated from Somerville High School and attended Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Cambridge, Mass.
He served in the Army Signal Corps during World War II in the South Pacific and married Lillian Collins July 22, 1950, in St. Mary's Church, Cambridge.
Mr. Neves was a stockbroker for a number of years. He later was employed by the U.S. Postal Service in Brockton, Mass., retiring as postal supervisor in 1987 after 23 year of service.
