Married Albert H. Davis about 1838 in Jefferson County, New York.
Mrs. Almira M. Davis, aged 89 years, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. J. J. Hunt, Monday morning, Nov. 28th. Mrs. Davis was born in Jefferson county, N. Y., and had resided in Naperville about 20 years. Her husband died in the year 1860. Three children survive her, two sons and one daughter. The funeral took place from the residence of James J. Hunt yesterday afternoon, and interment in Naperville cemetery.
An interesting history could be written of the varied experiences of this aged mother. A family of five children was left to her care and management. The patriotic tidal wave of '61 carried her three sons into the army, leaving the inexperienced mother to manage affairs. She tried to keep the youngest son at home with her but did not succeed. The trio passed through the fiery ordeal at Gettysburg and emerged from the conflict without a scratch.
In the reclining years of life Mrs. Davis enjoyed the companionship of a dutiful daughter, who fulfilled the injunction to "Honor thy father and thy mother," which will prove a pleasant recollection in years to come.
