Joan D. Mousaw, 64, of 6 State St., retired secretary at St. Lawrence University, died Wednesday morning at the House of the Good Samaritan, Watertown, where she had been a patient since June 4. Mrs. Mousaw had been in failing health the past year.
A private funeral will be held Friday at the Fox Funeral Home, Ogdensburg, with the Rev. Joseph Elliott, pastor of St. Mary's Church, officiating. Burial will be in Foxwood Memorial Park, Ogdensburg.
Surviving are her husband, Jack W., Canton; two sons, two daughters, nine grandchildren; a great-granddaughter, and a cousin.
A grandson, Michael C. Hazen, died Aug. 21, 1990.
She was born Aug. 19, 1927 in Elizabethtown, a daughter of John and Doris LaFave Daigneau. She was a graduate of St. Mary's School, Canton High School and the Wallace Secretarial School, Ogdensburg.
She married Jack W. Mousaw July 5, 1948, at St. Mary's Church with Monsignor Robert J. McCarthy officiating. The couple had legally separated.
Mrs. Mousaw was a secretary in the physics and chemistry departments at St. Lawrence University's Bewkes Hall for 23 years. She retired in June 1990, due to illness.
She was a communicant of St. Mary's Church.
