Gus was the son Ransom and Susan Moss Allen. He married (1) on February 9, 1873 in Calhoun County, Alabama to Margaret Stockton, daughter of Davis and Sarah Malinda (Callahan) Stockton; they had 3 children: Emma Cornelia, Columbus Arthur, and Martha. Margaret died and Gus married (2) to Emma Owens on January 24, 1877 in Calhoun County, Alabama; they had two children: Lavonia and Kesha. Gus married (3) on March 18, 1882 to Sarah Caroline Dobbs, daughter of David and Mary Todd Dobbs; they had 6 children: Mary Susan, John Clement, Sarah Melissa, Henry Frank, Julie Bell, and a set of twins. Gus married (4) on September 5, 1889 to Mary Jane Rooks Bishop; they had 5 children: James Ollie, Minnie Leonie, Eulah Caldonia, Silas Adkin, and Paul Allen.
