Donald J. McPhail Jr., 57, of 824 Ford St., died Tuesday morning in the emergency room at A. Barton Hepburn Hospital after being stricken at his home. He had been ill with cancer for several years.
A memorial service will be at a later date. Funeral arrangements are with Fox Funeral Home. Burial will be in Foxwood Memorial Park.
Surviving are his mother, Frances McPhail, Ogdensburg, and several cousins.
Born in Ogdensburg on Nov. 27, 1937, a son of Donald and Frances Corrice McPhail, he graduated from Ogdensburg Free Academy.
A marriage to Joan Elizabeth Mills ended in divorce.
He was an Army veteran and served with the New York Army National Guard for a number of years.
Mr. McPhail was employed in the laboratory at the former Diamond International Paper Mill. He later worked for the Williams Air Conditioning Co. in Florida and George Bruyere Real Estate here.
