Fernande D. McGuire, 73, of 115 Fayette St., formerly of 113 Montgomery St., died Wednesday at the home of her daughter.
Mrs. McGuire was a secretary for 16 years for the athletic department at St. Lawrence University, Canton, and retired after four years at Mater Dei Seminary-College because of ill health.
Born Nov. 21, 1922, at Hull, Quebec, daughter of Omer and Hermina Patry Plouffe, she attended Notre Dame Convent, Ottawa, and married Robert A. McGuire on July 26, 1944, in Anniston, Ala. Mr. McGuire died Nov. 16, 1991.
After their marriage, the couple moved to Ogdensburg. Mrs. McGuire lived on Montgomery Street from 1946 until February of this year, when she moved to Fayette Street. She had lived with her daughter a few months.
Mrs. McGuire was a communicant of Notre Dame Church and past president of the Ogdensburg Zonta Club. She enjoyed bowling.
Survivors include three daughters, two sons, two sisters, two brothers, 15 grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
Two brothers, Valmore and Paul Plouffe, and two stepbrothers, Francois and Georges Loyer, died before her.
A prayer service will be at 11:30 a.m. Thursday at Fox Funeral Home followed by a funeral Mass at noon in Notre Dame Church with the Rev. John M. Hunt officiating. Burial will be in Foxwood Memorial Park.
