Harold G. McGrath, 83, of 1024 Ford St., died Friday evening in Claxton-Hepburn Medical Center.
Mr. McGrath was a foreman at Aluminum Company of America, Massena, retiring in 1974 after 38 years' service.
He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the Knights of Columbus, the Azure Mountain Club and the Alcoa 25- Year Club. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening.
Born March 8, 1920, in Ogdensburg, son of Llewellyn and Frances Lashomb McGrath , he attended St. Mary's Academy.
He served in the Army from Jan. 10, 1942, to Dec. 26, 1945, with the Headquarters Battery, 465th Field Artillery Battalion, and and received the Asiatic-Pacific and European-African-Middle Eastern service medals, the World War II Victory Medal and the Good Conduct Medal.
He married Audrey Montpetit, who also was known as Audrey Small, on Jan. 18, 1947, at Notre Dame Church with the Rev. Armand Brunet officiating.
Surviving besides his wife are three daughters and a son-in-law, two sisters, three brothers, six grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral Mass will be said at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary's Cathedral with the Rev. Scott Seymour officiating. Burial will be in Foxwood Memorial Park.
