NASHVILLE - Charlotte Dasher Cook, 56, of Nashville passed away Monday, July 25, 2005, at South Georgia Medical Center after a lengthy illness.
Ms. Cook was born Sept. 11, 1948, to the late Johnny V. and Alma Lee Griner Dasher. She was a retired Rehabilitation Counselor with the Georgia Department of Human Resources and was a member of Hope Baptist Church in Nashville. In 1974, she received a B.S., Social Welfare from Georgia State University in Atlanta; 1977- M. Ed., Rehabilitation Counseling from the University of Georgia in Athens; 1979 - Lieutenant Colonel, Aide De Camp, Governor's Staff; 1981 - Listed in the Outstanding Young Women of America; 1981-1984 Chairman, Special Project, Tiftarea Civitan; 1982 - GRCA Currie Counselor of the Year; 1982-1998 Coordinator, Tift County Special Olympics; 1984 - Tifton Junior Woman?s Club presented certificate in recognition of outstanding service to the Tift County Special Olympics; 1985 - National Child Labor Committee recognized Charlotte Dasher Cook for Exceptional Service to Children and Youth; 1986 - Major of the Tift County United Way Campaign; 1987-1988 Listed in Who's Who of Emerging Leaders in America (First Edition); 1987 - Present Licensed Professional Counselor, GA Composite Board of Professional Counselors, Social Workers, and Marriage and Family Therapists; 1989 - President of Georgia Rehabilitation Counseling Association; 1992 - Georgia Rehabilitation Counseling Association Counselor of the Year; 1993-1994 Graduate of the Class of 1993-1994, Dougherty Leadership Development Institute; 1993 - Certificate of Appreciation from the South Georgia Private Industry Council for outstanding service and dedication; 1994 - Invited to the White House by President Bill Clinton for the 4th Annual Celebration of the Americans with Disabilities Act; 1995-1998 Member of Related Vocational Instruction Advisory Committee, Lowndes High School; 1996 - Chairman, Mayor's Council for Persons with Disabilities in Valdosta and completed leadership with Department of Human Resources; 1996-Present Publicity Chairman of the Multiple Sclerosis Walk in Valdosta; 1997-1998 Listed in Who's Who in Medicine and Healthcare (First Edition) 1998 - Present Board Member, Tift County Special Olympics; 2000 - Present Publicity Chairman, Banquet Committee, Mayor's Council for Person's with Disabilities; Earned Associate Public Manager designation by completing Management in State Government Levels I, II and III.
Survivors include her two daughters and sons -in-law, Jody Ann and Matt Willis of Valdosta and Tina and Eric Hall of Enigma; two brothers, Bobby Don and Susan Dasher of Nashville and Johnny V. and Ruth Dasher Jr. of Nashville; four sisters and brothers-in-law, Kathleen Harrell of Ray City, Oreta and Carl Staggs of Phoenix, Ariz., Vivian and Gene Molisee of Ray City and Jackie and Dennis Williams of Nashville; four grandchildren, Michael and Kimberly Willis and Kasey and Tyler Ashburn; one aunt, Gladys Temples of Ray City. She was preceded in death by one brother-in-law, Clifton Harrell.
Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, July 29, 2005, at Hope Baptist Church in Nashville with the Rev. Steve Pickern and the Rev. Billy Southerland officiating.
