Lawrence J. "Lornie" Mashaw , 77, of 1601 Jay St., died Thursday afternoon at Hepburn Medical Center after being stricken at home.
A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Foxwood Mausoleum Chapel with the Rev. Euclid Marier, retired pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Foxwood Memorial Park.
There will be no calling hours. Arrangements are with Fox Funeral Home. Donations may be made to Ogdensburg Volunteer Rescue Squad.
Surviving are a son, a stepson, a daughter, a sister, a grandson and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Three brothers, John Henry, Emery and Edward, died before him.
Born Jan. 2, 1919, in Ogdensburg, a son of John B. and Bertha Lajoie Mashaw , he attended Ogdensburg schools and served in the Army in the Pacific theater during World War II.
He married Naomi Pelletier Brouse on May 19, 1951, in First Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Melville Nesbitt officiating. She died Aug. 17, 1988.
First an ice peddler for Borden Ice Cream Co., he later worked for J.J. Murphy Plumbing Co. He left Ogdensburg to sail the Great Lakes with Federal Steamship Lines. Upon his return, he was a deliveryman for A. Cappione, Massena, and later was employed by Ogdensburg Country Club, now St. Lawrence State Park Golf Course, for 26 years, retiring in 1988.
He was a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2036.
