James P. Martin , 35, of 1608 Knox St., died Saturday at his home after a short battle with cancer.
Mr. Martin worked at United Helpers for a time as an aide before becoming a mental health therapy aide in the Children's Unit at St. Lawrence Psychiatric Center.
An artist, Mr. Martin enjoyed drawing and painting. He also enjoyed listening to music, watching movies, playing musical instruments, fishing, and walking on nature trails.
Born March 31, 1970, in Potsdam, son of Richard and Deatta Crump Martin, he graduated from Lisbon Central School, where he played soccer and participated in the high school band. He then attended Canton College of Technology, majoring in criminal justice. He served in the Army Reserves for several years.
He married Nicole C. Marceau on July 6, 2002, at her Ogdensburg home, with City Judge Michael A. Gebo officiating.
Surviving besides his wife are a daughter, twin sons, a stepson, his mother and stepfather, his father and stepmother, his paternal grandmother, his maternal grandmother, two sisters, two brothers and their wives, a stepsister and her husband,five stepbrothers and two stepsisters-in-law, and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
A private funeral will be at the convenience of the family at Fox-McLellan Funeral Home with the Rev. Paul D. Dettmer officiating. Entombment will follow in Foxwood Memorial Park.
