Bertha E. Marceau , 88, formerly of Irish Settlement Road, died early Monday in United Helpers Cedars Nursing Home, Ogdensburg, where she had been a resident since 1998.
Mrs. Marceau was a homemaker.
She was a communicant of St. Mary's Church and enjoyed camping at Higley Flow, Alexandria Bay, Massena and Waddington campsites. Her hobbies included knitting, cooking, fishing, shopping, gardening and bird watching. She enjoyed spending time outdoors.
Born Dec. 16, 1915, in Ogdensburg, daughter of William H. and Josephine Ward Rolfe, she attended Ogdensburg schools.
She married Richard A. Marceau on Nov. 16, 1940, at St. Mary's Cathedral, Ogdensburg. The couple lived on Irish Settlement Road for 30 years. Mr. Marceau died March 13, 1994.
Surviving are three sons and their wives, two daughters, a sister, and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Four sisters, Rose Denny, Mary Fee, Margaret Noftsier and Elizabeth Howes, and five brothers, William N., George, John, Charles and Joseph O. Rolfe, died before her.
A private funeral will be held at Foxwood Memorial Park, Ogdensburg, with the Rev. Terry R. LaValley, rector of St. Mary's Cathedral, officiating.
