8/5/1999- The Purcell Register:

Funeral services were held Wednesday morning at 10am at Our Lady of Victory Catholic church for John Monroe Cox with Rev William Ross and Rev Matthew Brown officiating. A Rosary service was held Tuesday evening at the Wilson-Little Funeral home chapel, with interment in the Lexington Catholic cemetery under direction of Wilson-Little.

Born 8/10/1929 in Lexington, Mr Cox died 7/31/1999 at Purcell Municipal hospital. He was 69. Mr Cox was reared in Lexington and attended Lexington public schools. He served in the Air Force and in the Navy during the Korean Conflict. He later also served in the Army, retiring from the service in the Army as a sergeant first class armament inspector. He was stationed at Ft Worth and Ft Hood during the later years of his career. He was active in the American Legion, the Lexington Parks Department, and the Knights of Columbus. He was a member of St Mary's Catholic church in Wanette. Mr Cox was preceded in death by his parents, Abner & Anna Cox, 2 brothers, Carl & A.C., and a sister, Catherine Feuerborn.

He is survived by 3 sons, Chris Cox & wife Windy of Alvord, TX, Johnny Cox of Springtown, TX, and Patrick Cox & wife Shirley of Ft Worth, 3 daughters, Teresa Wilson & husband Ronnie of Springtown, Sharon Lockard & husband Greg of Springtown, and Dian Hawks & husband Michael of Roy City, Utah, a brother, Raymond Cox of Lexington, a sister, Pauline Cox of San Diego, CA., 2 nephews, Raymond Feuerborn of Lexington and David Cox of New Hampshire, 16 grandchildren, and 6 great grandchildren.

Pallbearers were John Marsh, Shannon Marsh, Greg Lockard, Ted Hampton, Clifford Tynes and Marion Hyde.
