Sikeston, MO - Wilma Acord, 92, died March 23, 2009 at Missouri Delta Medical Center.
Born Oct. 28, 1916, in Campbell, to the late John Henry and Dora Bell Crafton Anders, she was a housewife. For 20 years, she worked at the Anchor Toy factory. She worked in the want-ad department of the Standard Democrat and for 15 years was a foster grandparent at Southeast Elementary School. She was a longtime active member of Emmanuel Baptist Church.
On Oct 20, 1934, in New Madrid, she married C.M. "Mike" Acord who preceded her in death on Dec 30, 1993.
She was also preceded in death by three brothers and five sisters.
Survivors include: one son and daughter-in-law, Gene and Elaine Acord of Sherwood, AR; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Kay and Terry Williams of Millington, TN, Sherron and Jim Wyrick of New Haven, IN, and Patricia Compas of Sikeston; and 10 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held at the Nunnelee Funeral Chapel where services will be. The Rev. Billy Davis, pastor of the Emmanuel Baptist Church, will officiate.
Burial will follow in Garden of Memories Cemetery in Sikeston, MO
Pallbearers will be: Scott Acord, Keith Acord, Mike Williams, Marty Wyrick, Carl Wyrick and Jason Compass.
Honorary pallbearers will be Abe Maclin, Ralph Davis and Harrison Waltrip.
