| Birth: | May 23, 1898 | | Death: | Dec. 31, 1977 |  Sports Broadcaster. Born in Minneapolis, Minnesota, he is fondly remembered as the first to say "Holy Cow!" during a baseball broadcast. Halsey was the only announcer for the American League Minnesota Twins from 1961 to 1972. Prior to broadcasting for the Twins, he was a newspaper journalist and broadcasting games for the Minneapolis Millers, a minor-league baseball team. He also did play-by-play for the University of Minnesota football games and he hosted nightly radio sportscasts as well. He died at age 78 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. In 2004, he was posthumously inducted into the Museum of Broadcasting Hall of Fame. (bio by: John "J-Cat" Griffith)
