With a prominent LDS influence in southwestern Wyoming; Charles was Baptized into the LDS faith at the age of eight. His grandfather & Bishop Turner of Morgan, UT performed the baptism in the Weber river.

On May 17th, 1906, Charles married Vesta Minerva Stowell in the Logan, Utah LDS Temple. Shortly after he began an LDS mission in the Eastern States from 1906-1908. Then he moved to a farm in Idaho Falls, ID, where he was employed by the Oregon Short Line Railroad.

Charles however made frequent trips to SLC, UT so he could go through the Salt Lake Temple. During his frequent trips to SLC, UT he met Charles Zitting, an LDS member who was living plural marriage. Zitting was married to (three) wives and still a member of the LDS church. Zitting introduced Charles to John W. Woolley, who had performed Zitting's plural marriages.

In 1928, Charles was barred from entering the Salt Lake Temple when temple president George F. Richards learned that Kingston did not agree with the LDS Church's 1890 & 1904 renunciations of plural marriage. His wife, children and parents all tried to convince Charles to abandon his belief in living polygamy. However, in time he gained the support of his wife & children.

The LDS disciplinary council wanted to give Charles (six) months to reconsider his position on the "Ever Last Covenant of Living Plural Marriage" according to Joseph Smith's teachings. But, Charles insisted the council make an immediate decision. Seven days later Charles had a vision of God the Father & Jesus Christ, which reassured him that he had made the right decision. Charles was excommunicated from the LDS church on March 04, 1929.

In 1931, Charles & Jesse Burke Stone published LAMAN MANASSEH VICTORIOUS, a book justifying the continued practice of plural marriage. On January 01, 1935, Charle's eldest son Elden Kingston, along with Eldens (2) wives Ethel & Afton founded the "Latter Day Churh of Christ" or "United Order". Then in 1941 it was called the Davis County Cooperative Society. A number system was introduced which numbers the male members along with their wives. Charles was given # (five)..as the 5th member. It has been said that it took (5) men to start the Order.

Elden died in 1948. Charles acknowledged Elden's wishes & designated his brother John Ortell Kingston as the next/ 2nd leader of the COOP. Charles implemented diets of fasting to promote spiritual growth. Dry vs. juice diets were practiced daily vs. weekly. (Time has shown that such diet practices has caused members to die earlier in their life). Other firm believes were living PLURAL MARRIAGE - having (2) wives or more/ the LAW of CONSECRATION - giving up everything you owned and turning it into the store-house of the Lord or Coop. Charles stated that it would always be a Kingston who would be in-charged of the Order. He believed in keeping the early Mormon doctrine that Joseph Smith wrote. Charles religious thinking was fanatical, as was Joseph Smiths. Charles died at the age of 91 years old in Salt Lake City, UT.
