Soul singer. Overton Vertis "O.V." Wright began singing gospel in church at age 10 and later fronting gospel groups. He was in his late thirties by the time he signed with Hi Records. But producer Willie Mitchell had been cutting a number of impressive tunes for him (including all three of his Gold singles: "You're Gonna Make Me Cry," "Eight Men, Four Women" and "Ace of Spades") on Backbeat Records for years. Plagued by drug problems, he died of in a Memphis hospital following a massive heart attack at the of age of 41.
