Birth: May 24, 1811
North Carolina, USA
Death: 1873

Benton C Douthit was the son of Alphonsine Siner Clemmons and Joseph Douthit. His grandfather was Peter Clemmons, for whom Clemmons, NC is named. Benton's middle name is either Clemmons, or Coston, for his grandmother Clemmons was a Coston and she had a brother named Benton Coston.
Benton's mother was still living when Peter Clemmons wrote his will, but was deceased when Peter's wife, Comfort, wrote her will, but she mentioned Siner's children. Siner had married Alexander Rea by that time. Benton married Paulina Eccles, sometimes said to be Eakles.
