"The funeral of the late Mr. John F. McCormick, who died in this city on Tuesday evening, will take place this (Thursday) morning at 10:30 o'clock, from his late residence, corner Croesus and Water streets, and he will be interred with Masonic honors. Mr. McCormick was a most notable man, and was a good citizen in every since of the word. We are told that he kept a diary of most of the thrilling events of the late civil war, having been a gallant confederate soldier, and it may be that this record may be published for the purpose of perserving it. The old confederate veterans are gradually answering the final roll call, and it will not be many years before the last of them will have been gathered to their fathers. We expect to see Mr. McCormick's funeral largely attended by his old friends and acquaintances in Biloxi".

The cortege was preceded by the members of the Magnolia Lodge No. 120, of which the deceased had long been a distinguished and honored member, and the interment was made in the city cemetery with Masonic honors and rites. The cortege proceeded up Howard avenue to the place of interment from the family residence corner Croesus and Water streets. A considerable delegation of school children were at the residence, and presented a floral decoration in the shape of a large arm chair.
