Local papers carry an article in 1955, ten years after their marriage, with photos, citing Alden murdered his wife with a gun, while she was sleeping. Alden's father called the sheriff, who sent out a group searching for Alden. Alden also died the same day, running away in his vehicle. Alden and Geraldine are buried in the same lot, at the Zion Cemetery close to E. St. Olaf Lutheran Church.
