Mrs. Eunice R. Mills was a lifelong resident of Muscatine County. She passed away at the home of her son, John Mills, Saturday, June 24, 1922. She had been in poor health for the past six months, but her death was due to a fall, which caused great suffering, borne with patience until the end. Realizing that the end was near, she was fully aware, and called the family and others present to her bedside.

She was well known in and all about West Liberty, and was loved by all who knew her. She was a good and faithful wife, a kind and loving mother, and a good neighbor, always ready with a helping hand to all.

Eunice Foster Mills was born near Sandusky, Ohio on December 24, 1841. She was united in marriage with Van Buren Mills, in 1863. He died on December 31, 1913 which left her a soldier's widow. To this union were born ten children, four sons and six daughters.

At the time of her death there were six living children, Amos J., George, John, William, Mrs. George Conklin and Mrs. E. J. White, who lives in Washington County. The deceased children were Mrs. Gyletta Ann Bell Butcher, Mrs. Hattie A. Pike, Mrs. Alice Wilhelmina Adams and Mrs. Elizabeth N. Adams. One brother, George Foster of Cedar Valley, survived.

Funeral services were held at the Cedar Valley Church, Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Rev. Lloyd Tennant of West Liberty preaching from Proverbs 31. The music was by a quartet. Interment was made in the cemetery at Nichols, beside the bodies of her loved ones.
