David Lonnie Gilbert Rites held Feb. 21
David Lonnie Gilbert, son of Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Gilbert, was born on June 11, 1896, and died at his home in Smitfield on February 21, 1939.
Funeral services were held at the home on February 23rd by Rev. J.E. Franklin, of the Pine Grove Christian Church, and interment was made in the Hickory Knob cemetery by the Palmer Funeral Service.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Mabel Gilbert;seven sons;two daughters; two sisters, Mrs. J.D. Brewer and Mrs. Rex Showalters; and three brothers, Forrest, Oval and W.R. Gilbert.
The deceased was a son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Gilbert, of Smithfield and was employed in the rig building department for the South Penn Oil Company. He was a veteran of the World War, and a member of Mannington Post, American Legion. He was married on April 15,1919 in Wezel Co., WV to Mabel C. Irwin. Death was ascribed to cancer.
