Wabash Realtor and former Mayoral candidat Gordon William Brooks, 76 1186 Falls Ave., died at 8:29 p.m. Monday, April 14, 1997, at Wabash County Hospital.
Mr. Brooks owned Brooks Realty until his retirement in 1976. He also was a real estate developer,Hvinf developed Brooks Acres Addition.He also helped develop Candelite Village,whee he also built most of the new homes.He helped to design and build LeeBroo and Miami Height apartments and constructed several buildings throughout the city.
At one time he was a farmer and raised cattle
Mr. Brooks was a Republican candidate for Mayor of Wabash in 1971, and was a candidae for Wabash City Council in 1975.
He was a former member of the Wabash Carnegie Public Library Board of Directors and a 1938 graduate of Wabash High School.
He was born on Jan. 13, 1921, in Wabash to Isaac and Anna(Summers)Brooks.He married Ruth Christman on Feb. 3, 1942, in Wabash.She survives.
Nieces and Nephews also survive.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Grandstaff-Hentgen Main Street Chapel.Pastor Will McLaughlin will officiate.urial will be in Falls Cemetery.
Friends may call from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday at th funeral home.
Preferred memorials are to the Wabash Chapter of the American Heart Association.
Heather Greene was the organist.Pallbearers were Tony Adams,Doug Lumbard,Earl Ravenscroft,Steve Christman,David Donisch,Scott Henthorn and Kent Robertson.
