Jeanne Jensen, age 77, of Anamosa died Wednesday May 20, 2009 in her home following an extended illness.
Services will be 10:30 Saturday May 23, 2009 at the First Baptist Church in Anamosa. Rev. Ron Thatcher will officiate at the service. Friends may call from 4 to 8 Friday May 22, 2009 at the Goettsch Funeral Home in Anamosa. Internment will be at the Riverside Cemetery in Anamosa. Thoughts, memories and condolences may be left at

Surviving is her husband Don; 12 children Vianna (Dave) Davis of Gilbert, AZ, Carolyn Gilbert of Cedar Rapids, Butch (Anita) Gilbert of Anamosa, Kathy (Phillip) Dirks of Anamosa, Laureen (Dellar) Davis of Janesville, IA, Gary E. Gilbert of Cedar Rapids, Colleen (Dennis) Dvorak of Cedar Rapids, Roger Allen (Sue) Jensen of Cedar Rapids, Melvin (Mary) Jensen of Marion, Steve (Diane) Jensen of Marion, Terry (Lisa) Jensen of San Antonio, TX and Tony Jensen of Cedar Rapids; 26 Grandchildren; 16 Great grandchildren; 2 brothers Gary (Kathy) Ames of Duluth, MN and Steve (Jeanne) Ames of Plymouth, MN; a daughter-in-law Kathy Jensen; She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband Louis Earl Gilbert in January of 1979; a son Rod Jensen; a sister Marilyn Ames; and 3 brothers Russell K. Ames Jr., Alfred Ames and Franklin Ames.

Jeanne Beverly Jensen was born May 24, 1931 in Waterloo, Iowa. She was the daughter of Russell K. and Emma Wilkins Ames. On February 16, 1948 Jeanne and Louis Earl Gilbert were united in marriage. After Louis's death Jeanne and Don Jensen were united in marriage on July 25, 1982 in Anamosa, Iowa. Jeanne volunteered at the Veterans Hospital in Iowa City for 18 years, she also volunteered at St. Luke's in Cedar Rapids. She was a member of The First Baptist Church in Anamosa for more than 50 years. Jeanne enjoyed fishing, the outdoors, crafts and spending time on the lake. She will be missed dearly by those closest to her.
