ROXBURY - Irma M. Lockard, 91, of Roxbury, formerly of Skowhegan, Maine, died Thursday, February 26. She was the widow of Roy Lockard.
Mrs. Lockard was born July 28, 1917, in Millville, New Brunswick, Canada, a daughter of the late Frank E. and Uda V. (Blaney) Jones. She was employed as a fancy stitcher at Norwock Shoes in Skowhegan for 25 years.
She moved to Roxbury in the early 1970s to work as an estate caretaker and was a member of the Roxbury Congregational Church.
She enjoyed doing needlework, especially knitting prayer shawls for the First Congregational Church of East Haddam's Knitting Ministry. She loved being with her family and friends, telling stories and making them laugh. She was a member of the Red Hat Society.
She leaves her, son Perley R. Lockard and his wife, Madeline, of Moodus; two brothers, Murray Jones of Millville, New Brunswick, Canada, and Ronald Jones and his wife, Shirley, of Ontario, Canada; her daughter-in-law, Peggy Lockard of Plainville; 13 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by a daughter, Uda Ellen Lockard; a son, Waldo L. Lockard; a grandchild and two great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will take place at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 23, in South Side Cemetery, Skowhegan. A memorial service will take place at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 30, at Roxbury Congregational Church.
