Shelley, Nov. 1- Basil Elmer Van Eps 70, long time resident of Shelley, died Saturday afternoon at a local hospital.
He was born April 9, 1895 at Moorland, Iowa, the son of John French and Emma Julia Johnson Van Eps. His family moved to Idaho when he was 5 years old. They homesteaded in the Fairview area.
He married Arita Lords on Nov. 20, 1902 at Idaho Falls. Their marriage was solemnized in the Idaho Falls Temple Aug. 21, 1959. He was a member of the LDS Church, and held the office of Elder.
He was a member of American Legion and Veterans of World War I. He farmed for a living.
Survivors include his widow; one son, John (Jack) B. Van Eps, Moreland; three daughters, Mrs. Kenneth (Theron) Roberts, Shelley; Mrs. Charles (Barbara) Collins, Gray's Lake:; Mrs. Eugene (Dee Ann) Hill, Renton , Washington; three sisters, Mrs. Bessie Everett, Rigby; Mrs. Walter ( Charlotte) Wright, Idaho Falls; Mrs. Horace (Inez) Owens, Fairfield, Calif.,; one brother, Ivan j. Van Eps, Nampa; 15 grandchildren.
Services will be held Tuesday at 1:30 p. m. in the Shelley 3rd Ward Chapel, with Kenneth Robinson of the bishopric conducting. The Family will meet friends at the Nalder Mortuary in Shelley, Monday from 7:30 to 9 p. m..
Interment will be in Rose Hill Cemetery(should be Hillcrest Cemetery) in Shelley. In lieu of flowers, donations are asked to the Primary Children's Hospital in Salt Lake City, Utah.
