Alfred k Legare Dies at Home
Alfred Keith Legare 76 years old retired of Georgetown died late Friday afternoon at his home on Front Street. He had been in declining health for some time.
Funeral services were held at the Chapel of the Mayer Funeral Home at 3:30 pm Sunday. Officiating was the Rev Dr JH Danner pastor of Duncan Methodist Church. Burial followed in Elmwood Cemetery.
He was born July 18 1873 in Charleston. He entered the fishing business as a small boy and came to Georgetown about 60 years ago.
For a period of thirty years he served as one of the superintendents of Hobcaw Barony plantation home of Mr Bernard M Baruch. he was retired several years ago.
Surviving are his widow the former Miss Ida Taylor of Georgetown a son Herman Legare of Baltimore and a daughter Mrs Emily L Collum of Washington four grandchildren and a great grandson.
