"Death of Mrs. Logan
"Mrs. Emma Lena Logan died suddenly Monday, July 29, 1918, the cause of death being a perforated gastric ulcer. For months it had been known that there were no hopes of Mrs. Logan's recovery, but there was no preliminary warning of any sudden change in her condition.
"Mrs. Logan had been making her home with her niece, Mrs. A. C. Burgess, for the past year, and a short service was held at the home at 10 o'clock Wednesday, Rev. Phillips officiating. Following this service, the body was taken to the Congregational church at Manhattan where services were held, conducted by Rev. Phillips. Interment was in the Manhattan cemetery by the side of her husband.
"Emma L. Blanka was born Oct. 8, 1877, six miles south of Westmoreland, and died July 29, 1918, aged 40 years, 9 months and 21 days.
"On Feb. 23, 1898, she was united in marriage to James C. Logan, of Pottawatomie township, who died four years ago. To this union was born one son, Dewey. Besides her son, Mrs. Logan leaves to mourn her loss, a sister, Mrs. R. P. Barnes, of Longdale, Okla., three brothers, Wm. Blanka, of Canton, Okla., and Herman Blanka and Henry Blanka, of Havensville."
