Susan Gail McGruder age 59, of Ionia, passed away Oct. 1, 2009 in Ionia.

She was born Nov. 9, 1949 in Grand Rapids the daughter of Gerald and Virginia (Zick) Dean. Susan married Jim McGruder who preceded her in death in 1991.

She loved horses and collecting frogs and dolls. She also loved to bake, cook and read.

Susan is survived by her children, Christina (Michael) Dolly of Grand Rapids, Kevin Hoopfer of Calif., Mark Palmer and Kelly Edwards of Ionia, Robert Palmer of North Carolina and Alicia (Mike) Wilson of Muir; sister Barb Rhodes of Ionia; grandchildren, Jared Palmer, Paige McGruder, Faith Wilson, Annabelle Palmer, Saige Palmer, Brayden Palmer and Virginia Palmer and special friend Everett Fife of Ionia.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and brother, Robert Dean.

A memorial service will be held Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. at Palo Baptist Church with Pastor Randy Powell officiating. Anyone wishing may make memorial contributions in Susan's name to family choice.
