The former Stella Allard, she was born Feb. 4, 1904 in Alpena, the daughter of Joseph August Allard and Helen Kerouac.
Stella had lived in the area most of her life. She married James Russell Sims. She owned and operated Sim Grocery Store on West Shore Hubbard Lake for several years.
Her husband, J. Russell Sims died April 1, 1962.
Surviving Stella Sims were
five sisters, Mrs. Leona Fathers and Mrs. Theodore Laurette (Jeannette) of Royal Oak, Mrs. Ozevina M. Hurteau of Madison Heights, Mrs. Al Brufred (Lucille) of Elk Rapids and Mrs. Irvin Kuenzli (Rosetta) of East Tawas;
seven grandchildren, Leonard, Donna, Michael, Susan, Pamela, James and Daniel Tolan; and
three great-grandchildren.
A daughter, Mrs. Lorriane Tolan died July 11, 1960 and two brothers also preceded her in death.
Funeral: Karpus-Hunter Funeral Home with the Rev. Herbert Troge of Trinity Lutheran Church, Ossineke, officiating. Burial: Caledonia Township Cemetery.
