G. W. SMITH DEAD

DROPPED DEAD IN THE YARD OF HIS HOME YESTERDAY AFTERNOON

Garret W. Smith, dropped dead yesterday afternoon in the yard of his home at No. 246 Clay Street. He was one of the oldest and most respected citizens of this city, being over 80 years of age at the time of his death.

The deceased ate a hearty dinner and none of his friends and relatives thought anything serious was the matter, even though he had been complaining for some time. He went out in the yard after his dinner and when he did not return for a long time, a search was made which resulted in the finding of the body in the yard. The funeral will take place on Wednesday afternoon.
