He came to Blair with his parents when he was about 15 years of age and this was his home for just 50 years. He was married to Miss Susan Turner in 1877, and five children were born to them, one son, Frank, died in infancy. The surviving are Thomas, of Greenfield, Ia., Mabel, Mrs. Elton Booth, of this city, Don, D., of Casper, Wyo., Ina, Mrs. Robert Sprecker, of Los Angeles, Calif. Two brothers survive him also, Sam, of McCook, Neb. and Joe, of Detroit, Michigan.
